A Successful Day for Mallow CC Members at the SACC Nature Finals

Mallow Camera Club members collected seven of the 22 medals awarded, and a Honourable Mention certificate, at the Southern Association of Camera Clubs’ (SACC) Nature Competition held in Mallow on Sunday 26 January 2014.

Among the medal winners were Paul Tips, who won two Gold, one Silver and one Bronze medal in the Intermediate Section.  Bill Power and John Hooton collected two Silver and one Silver medal respectively.   In addition many club members had images accepted to go forward to the Irish Photographic Federation’s National Nature Competition next month.

The SACC Nature Competition is not only a stand-alone competition, it is also a qualifying round of the IPF National Nature Competition.  Mallow Camera Club hosted the 2014 SACC Nature Competition in the Amelian Theatre, St. Mary’s Secondary School, Mallow.  The SACC is currently being administered by Mallow Camera Club.

Bill won the medal in the Advanced Open Section; he also won a silver medal for the best image in the Peatland Ireland Advanced category of the competition. Feedback on Sunday’s event from both participants and attendees was extremely positive.  It was the biggest ever nature competition held in the region, with 79 photographers competing and over 400 entries entered in print and digital formats.  The qualifying entries go forward to the IPF Nature Competition which will be held in Kilkenny on 23 February 2014.
