Last weekend was a great and successful one for two Mallow Camera Club members who won major awards in national competitions.
Paul Tips won two Gold medals, a Silver and an Honourable Mention in the Intermediate Section of the IPF National Nature Photography Competition held in Kilkenny on Sunday last. Paul’s image of an insect drinking a drop of water ‘Bubble Bug’ won intermediate gold in the print category. In the Natural World category Paul won silver and gold for two superb images – including one of an insect on a leaf.
Also in the National Nature Competition Bill Power won gold in the advanced section of the Peatland Ireland category with his image ‘West on Bog’.
On the previous day Bill also experienced success when he won a bronze medal in the advanced print monochrome section of the IPF National Print and Projected Competition with his image Ellen.
Congratulations also to all the members of the Club who entered in the competitions and whose images qualified through the regional rounds to reach the finals; Margaret McAuliffe, Neily Curtin, Vivien Buckley, John Hooton and John Doheny. In general photographs by MCC members were marked high by the three international judges. Visit www.irishphoto.ie for full results.
