Saturday 22 November 2014 will go down in the annals of Mallow Camera Club as a red letter day.  No less than ten club members achieved IPF Distinctions, nine Licentiateships and one Associateship, at the final distinctions sitting of the year in Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Teddy Sugrue was awarded his Associateship of the Irish Photographic Federation (AIPF), while Paul Tips, Noreen Murphy, Janusz Trzesicki, Michal Poplawski, Margaret O’Brien, Joy Buckley, Margaret McAuliffe, Anne Fuller Griffin and Michael Toner were all awarded Licentiateships of the Irish Photographic Federation (LIPF).
There has been a proactive mentoring programme in place in the club since the start of the year to enable members to hone their skills and achieve distinctions. The success of members on the day was noted by the chairman of the adjudication panel Mark Sedgwick who said there was obvious teamwork in Mallow Camera Club.
The club hired a bus to transport members en masse to Thurles. The bus made a stop on the return journey for a celebratory meal. A long day – but an extremely successful and rewarding one.
Congratulations and well done to one and all.
All the successful panels will be on display at the club meeting tomorrow night, 24 November. Â Come early – there’s sure to be some celebrating!
